Wherever you are
There will come a day
Soon
When the sun will shine
And you will feel
The warmth of eternity
Caressing your temporary flesh
You will stop in your tracks
And close your eyes
You will breathe in the golden rays
Deep into your momentary lungs
Your tiny toes will tingle
And your brief heart will smile
Quickened
By the knowledge
You are here
But for the smallest, fastest
Flourish of time
And in that knowledge
All will be well
For when there is something
Always greater than you
There is nothing to fear
For you are not your own
Nor is the world yours
To cling to
While you have responsibility
You do not have ultimate power
This is freedom
When you
Once again
Transcend the vessel
You call your physical body
You will understand this
All the more
As your sheer expanse
Attests to it
So let the sun shine
On your temporary flesh
Breathe in its rays
And when the clouds come again
Watch their shifting shapes
And shades
And colours
And know
You are a spec
A brilliant flash
A remarkable flicker
And beyond your serendipitous
Quintessence of sometime dust
The world goes on
In permanent impermanence
Wherever you are
